In responding of the recent situation that this country is facing right now on the economic crisis, I'd like to give my thought of what the Bible said about money.
1 Timothy 6:10 - “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”
Ecclesiastes 5:10 - “Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income….”
Matthew 6:24 - “No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.”
These verses reminded us about our attitude toward money or wealth.
1. Money or wealth is not evil, but the love of money is evil. God entrusted us with the wealth that we have so that we can use it to bless others.
2. The love of money never gives us any satisfaction; instead it made us become greedy. With this attitude, we will never feel enough with what we have and will never be thankful to God.
3. When we love money, we replace God as the master in our lives. When we start replacing Him as the center of our lives, God will surely crush that false god. He will do this because He loves us. Out of His great love toward us, He will discipline us like a father disciplines his children.
As a closing, please read Matthew 6:25-34. If our God takes good care of the lilies of the valley and birds of the air, He will certainly take care of us even better than those lilies and birds. Remember, we are very valuable in His eyes – He gave His only son for us.
That is the promise of God that we can hold onto during this time of difficulties. May God bless you all.
